Martha Rawls Smith Elementary School Joins Campaign

The students at Martha Rawls Smith Elementary recently teamed up with Schwan's Food Service in taking a part in the fight against global hunger. Hunger affects children around the world when it doesn't have to. The Change Our World campaign was created to fight global child hunger by supporting the Global Child Nutrition Foundation. GCNF is an organization committed to eliminating childhood hunger across the globe through the creation of self sustaining school nutrition programs. By nurturing young bodies and minds, we can build a more stable, peaceful world.

Encouraged by the Martha Rawls Smith Elementary (NAC) Nutrition Advisory Council and nutrition manager Samantha Thornton, the school raised and donated $500.76 to help the fight. The students were challenged to collect quarters for change. The homeroom that collected the most out of the 4th and 5th grades was awarded an Ice Cream Sundae Party with all the trimmings. The winning class for 4th grade was Mrs. Christy Wood and the 5th grade winner was a tie between Ms. Sharon Aspinwall and Mrs. Pam Aspinwall.
